Company capability – Heated fabric technology

Based in New Zealand, Wera TM is a new technology company formed to commercialise its unique (patent pending) range of knitted heated fabrics and associated power control systems.   Our company has leveraged off alliances with many domestic suppliers to be able to bring quality and scale to the fast-moving technology sector of technical textiles.

Heated Fabrics
Wera TM has its own conductive yarns (manufactured in New Zealand) and is partnered with New Zealand knitting company, Beverley Productions Ltd.  Beverley Productions have been in the knitting trade for over thirty years and has extensive production resources.  The knitted structure allows us to engineer products to suit the application.  It is extremely robust and being stretchable means the fabric can be used to provide optimal heat transfer.

With our own series of conductive yarns and knitting facilities we are able to develop new fabrics suitable for specific applications. The fabrics can be produced with a maximum relaxed width of 1000mm and as long as you like.  Typically heating panels are knit as a continuous fabric piece separated by a segment of non-heating material.  The individual heating panels are then cut from the continous piece ready to be used.

If our current range of fabrics do not meet your requirements we can certainly develop a customised solution.

Electronics – Design Development and Manufacture
Controlling the temperature of the fabric is typically a must for most applications. Wera has developed a range of prototype electronic controllers used to test our fabrics and to demonstrate controlled heating.   As a result we have extensive knowledge in the design of electronic controllers and can either supply some of our in-house solutions or assist you in developing a solution tailored to meet your needs.

Keep an eye out for our range of commercial controllers that will be available early 2008.

General R&D and Product Development
Our company has the ability to assist you with R&D and product development. If the job is outside our core capability we have a close working relationship with major research providers in New Zealand and can find the necessary expertise. Our technical base includes:

  • Design of fabric based heating systems.

  • Mechanical engineering design including 3D computer aided design.

  • Rapid prototyping.

  • Apparel design and prototype production (Beverley Productions).

  • Silicon Molding.

  • Lamination.

  • Materials.

  • Product testing.

Samples
We have a variety of off the shelf samples available or can make something specific to your application. Off the shelf samples are:

  • Knitted heated fabric (fabric only). We can provide a few free samples (P&P not included).

  • Ready to heat - fabric connected to heat with power supplies (mains power or batteries) and electronic controllers.

  • Fabric laminated or sandwiched with neoprene.

Licensing our technology
Wera TM realise that not every commercial situation will require our company providing the fabric or other technologies and products. The fact that our patent pending fabrics are knitted, means that it can be produced globally and it may work out better that you undertake production in your own facilities. If you are considering licensing options please contact us to discuss.
