We can source a wide variety of quality Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer batteries and battery chargers to suit your applications. These battery types come in all sizes and capacities (amount of energy stored, which relates to how long they last). The Lithium chemistry is rechargeable (approximately 500-700 recharges), does not have a memory, and has the highest energy stored per weight than any other off the shelf commercial battery. They are however, more expensive than other standard battery types.

We stock a 14.8Volt Lithium Ion battery pack to go with samples. These packs are approximately 72mm x 65mm x 18mm with a weight of 170grams. They will run a 15 Watt heater (about this is more than enough for outdoor use) for approximately two and a half hours.

Things to consider when selecting your batteries

What is the application (what is the heater to be used for)?
What is the physical width of the heater (centimeters)?
What is the desired surface temperature?
What is the maximum time needed to run the heater at full power?
What is the nominal or expected life of the battery?
What are the weight restrictions?
What are the operating conditions for the heating system? Consider the following: temperature range, humidity, potential for water contact, underwater (to what depth?).
Does the battery require waterproofing or other type of protection?
Does the battery require a form of housing for aesthetics or physical protection?

MAKING HEATING SIMPLE

Heated Fabric
The fabric is produced to meet your specifications. Typically, it comes off the kintting machine in long rolls. Each heating panel is produced to the required width and length separated by approimately 20-30mm of non conductive material. We can produce fabrics up to 1000mm wide.

Electronic power controllers
We have significant expertise in the development of electronic power controllers. Initially, we developed solutions to allow products to be demonstrated (see pictures on the right). Now we are embarking on providing a variety of commercial solutions and will release our first commercial general purpose electronic controller in early 2008. Very shortly the prototype versions of these controllers will be available with our samples.

It must be noted however, that since there is such a wide scope of applications no single controller will suit all purposes. However, our general purpose controller is suitable for the purpose of product development with most applications under 45Watts.

To provide a good heating system to the market most applications do require their own solution. We have the expertise to help you through this process and develop products to suit your needs.

Braided wire
Braided wire is used to deliver the power across the heater (see our Information for the Designer Brief). We have had thin braided wire designed to suit heated fabric applications produced for us in Europe and can supply minimum quantities of 1kg. Please enquiry regarding this product.

Mains power supplies
A lot of products and applications are best suited to getting their power from a mains powers supply. Examples include: home and office seat heaters, therapeutic heating systems (wheat bags, joint and muscle wraps, therapeutic cushions, and industrial heaters.

We can provide a power supplies from 20-100Watts. Please enquire to see what best suits your needs.

Samples
We have a variety of off the shelf samples available or can make something specific to your application. Off the shelf samples are:

Knitted heated fabric (fabric only). Samples supplied free (P&P not included).

Ready to heat - fabric connected to heat with power supplies (mains power or batteries) and electronic controllers.

Fabric laminated or sandwiched with neoprene.
